Siddiqui was born on May 19, 1974, into a Zamindari Muslim Lambardar family in Budhana, a tiny village in the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Of his eight siblings, he is the oldest. Nawaz grew up primarily in Uttarakhand. He got a degree in chemistry from Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya in Haridwar. After that, he spent a year working as a pharmacist in Vadodara before moving to Delhi to look for employment. 

After seeing a play once in Delhi, he was immediately taken to acting. He performed in around 10 plays with friends, including one in Dehradun, to meet one of the requirements for admission to the National School of Drama (NSD) in New Delhi. He is a National School of Drama graduate. 

In the 2012 film Patang, Siddiqui made her feature film debut alongside Prashant Bhargava. He did appear in many films like Sarfarosh, Munnabhai MBBS, and more. It was the year 2012 that marked a turning point in his career when he starred as the unforgettable Faizal Khan in Anurag Kashyap’s crime drama “Gangs of Wasseypur.” This portrayal earned him critical acclaim and was only the beginning of a remarkable journey in Hindi cinema.
